IOWA CITY, Iowa – Before last summer, three-star 2022 athlete Jaren Kanak was a stranger to the recruiting process.
But good test results at a local combine and a strong junior season garnered interested from Power Five schools.
On Tuesday, the Hays, Kansas, native received a scholarship offer from Iowa.
“It’s a Power Five offer, which is exciting,” Kanak said. “It’s a great opportunity to play for an awesome Big Ten program. It definitely means something. Another awesome Power Five opportunity.”
Kanak he has watched a couple of Iowa games, but is eager to learn more about the program.
The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Kanak said the Hawkeye coaching staff sees him playing linebacker.
“I’m definitely looking forward to learning more and building relationships with these coaches,” Kanak said. “They’re a very successful program, had some success the past few years. They develop a lot of NFL talent, which is important.”
Kanak also has Power Five offers from Kansas, Kansas State, Nebraska and Washington State.
He said he wants to visit as many schools as possible over the summer and potentially make a decision by fall.
Iowa currently has two players committed to its 2022 recruiting class in four-star defensive lineman Aaron Graves and three-star defensive lineman Caden Crawford.
