Iowa football loses three players to transfer portal, including two walk-on QBs
IOWA CITY, Iowa – When spring practice started, the Iowa football team had two walk-on quarterbacks on the roster.
But both have since entered the NCAA transfer portal, the latest being freshman Jack Sharp, who entered the portal on Thursday and barely four months after enrolling at Iowa.
Sharp, a native of Orchard Park, N.Y., was fifth on the depth during spring practice, which ended this past Saturday, and one spot behind fellow walk-on quarterback Connor Kapisak, who also has entered the transfer portal.

Iowa currently has three scholarship quarterbacks on the roster, and will add a fourth when incoming freshman Joey Labas from Ohio joins the program this summer.
Defensive lineman Jake Karchinski also announced his decision to enter the transfer portal on Thursday. Karchinski, a native of De Pere, Wis., was part of Iowa’s 2019 recruiting class, but did not appear in any games in during the 2020 season and was redshirted in 2019.
