IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Iowa football team moved a step closer to potentially adding to its 2022 recruiting class on Sunday.
Three-star 2022 defensive lineman Tomiwa Durojaiye announced his list of top eight schools which includes Iowa, Northwestern, Duke, South Carolina, Arkansas, Michigan, West Virginia and Georgia Tech.
“(I like) my relationship with (defensive line) coach (Kelvin) Bell and how I feel the Hawkeyes would develop me,” Durojaiye said.
Durojaiye, a native of Middletown, Del., said he has been impressed by Bell, who is in his third year as the defensive line coach at Iowa.
“He just keeps it real,” Durojaiye said. “I love that our conversations are genuine. He doesn’t typically recruit my area, but the fact he took a chance on me stands out. The development of defensive linemen also stands out a lot.”
The 6-foot-3, 252-pound Durojaiye said he has set up official visits with Georgia Tech and Arkansas, but would like to set up a visit to Iowa soon.
Durojaiye said he may narrow his list again in July and come to a final decision in August or September.
Iowa currently has two players committed to its 2022 recruiting class in four-star defensive lineman Aaron Graves and three-star defensive lineman Caden Crawford.
Graves has been committed to Iowa since June 2019, while Crawford committed to Iowa in February 2021.
