Iowa baseball commit Addison Ostrenga talks Hawkeye football offer

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Addison Ostrenga has been committed to play baseball at Iowa since August 2020.
Now, the 2022 prospect will have a decision to make after receiving a scholarship offer from the Iowa football team.
“The offer means a lot to me,” Ostrenga said. “The opportunity to play football or baseball in college is a dream come true.”
The Iowa baseball team is no stranger to multi-sport athletes.
Current men’s basketball player Connor McCaffery is also on the Iowa baseball roster, and incoming freshman Brody Brecht has committed to play football and baseball for Iowa.
Brecht, a native of Ankeny, is expected to be selected in the MLB Draft this week.
The 6-foot-4, 220-pound Ostrenga, a native of Sun Prairie, Wis., now will have to decide if he wants to play both sports, or focus on one.
Iowa is his first scholarship offer for football.
“Right now I’m just considering all of my options,” Ostrenga said. “And keeping an open mind to the possibility of either.”
As as a tight end on the football field last season, Ostrenga had 19 catches for 328 yards and three touchdowns and had 29 tackles on defense in six games.
