Antwon Hayden Wants to See Iowa Football Again
East St. Louis LB Enjoyed Hawkeye Junior Day Last Month
Throughout the recruiting process, Antwon Hayden is learning about college coaches and their different personalities. The Class of 2023 East St. Louis (IL) High linebacker has a clear read on Iowa Football assistant LeVar Woods.
“Me and coach Woods have a real, man-to-man relationship,” Hayden told HF. “He’s going to tell me the real.”
Hayden (6-3, 235) spent time with Woods at the Hawkeye junior day last month in Iowa City.
“My junior day was good. It was a new experience,” he said
Alabama A&M, Arkansas State, Central Michigan, Illinois, Illinois State, Tennessee State, Western Illinois and Western Michigan have reportedly offered Hayden scholarships. Cal, Cincinnati, Colorado, Kansas State, and Missouri have been showing him interest.
“Besides Iowa, I’m liking Illinois a lot as well as all of my other offers,” he said.
Hayden is listed by recruiting services as a linebacker. He could also end up on the edge in some defenses at the next level.
He’s produced. As a junior, Hayden accumulated 117 tackles (78 solo) and five sacks. He earned a spot on the St. Louis Post-Dispatch all-metro first-team.
With his stock on the rise, Hayden seeks stronger relationships with schools interested in him. He considers the Hawkeyes to be in that group.
“I will visit again soon for spring practice,” he said.
Hayden would like to learn more about the academic side of Iowa during the next stop.
“I want to major in Sports Management,” he said.
