Tyson Terry Talks About Latest Iowa Football Visit
Omaha North Freshman Checks Out Hawkeyes Again
Only a freshman, Tyson Terry already has visited Iowa twice. The Omaha (NE) High defensive lineman attended the Hawkeyes game against Purdue in October. He received a more personal experience Saturday when he returned to campus.
He enjoyed it.
“I came down for practice (Saturday). It was awesome. It was intense, fast in speed and fun to watch,” Terry told HF.
Terry (6-3, 270) reports scholarship offers from Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Minnesota and Nebraska already. Iowa, Missouri and others have shown interest in him.
He understands the Hawkeyes are deliberate during the recruiting process and is not put off by not holding an offer from them to date.
“I’ve never talked with them about their recruiting board. I know I’m just a freshman, so I just gotta stay patient,” he said.
“I’m feeling good about Iowa. I think the coaches have their trust in me, and we’re getting to build a good relationship.”
Assistant LeVar Woods recruits Nebraska for Iowa. He is connecting with Terry.
“We’ve mostly been talking about plans for the summer, staying on my grades and me being in that three-technique D-Tackle mode,” Terry said.
Terry fits the mold of what the Hawkeyes seek in an interior defensive lineman.
“I think I would fit great into the Iowa scheme with that four-man front, and playing relentless and tough,” he said.
Terry feels good about his relationship with Woods. He’d like to expand his ties to the program.
“I’d like to get to meet the rest of the coaching staff,” he said. “I hope to get back down to Iowa in the summer for a camp.
Terry still is thinking about a field of study in college. He’s interested in Business.
According to MaxPreps.com, Terry totaled 85 tackles (12.0 for loss) during his freshman campaign. He added 5.0 sacks, three fumble recoveries and four passes defended.
