2023 Des Moines North DE David Caulker commits to Iowa football
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Sunday was a productive and a rewarding day for Des Moines North defensive end David Caulker.
It started with him performing well at the Iowa football camp.
That led to Caulker being offered a scholarship from Iowa, which he reportedly accepted on the spot before announcing his commitment on Twittter.
The 6-foot-4, 256-pound Caulker is ranked as a three-star recruit by Rivals and he chose Iowa over scholarship offers from Iowa State, Nebraska, Minnesota, Missouri, Kent State, Northern Illinois Northern Iowa.
Last season as a junior, Caulker finished with 21.5 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks.
Caulker is the 10th player to commit to Iowa’s 2023 recruiting class, joining quarterback Marco Lainez, receiver Alex Mota, defensive lineman Maddux Borcherding-Johnson, defensive end Chase Brackney, offensive lineman Leighton Jones, defensive back John Nestor, linebacker Ben Kueter, defensive back Zach Lutmer and defensive back Aidan Hall.
Caulker is also the second player from Des Moines North to pick in the past two years.

After PLAYING MY HEART out at camp and an amazing conversation with @CoachK_Bell @Coach_Niemann and Coach Ferentz, I am BLESSED to EARN an offer from The University of Iowa AND…I’M HOME! #NST #SWARM23 @BlairRIVALS @AllenTrieu @SBock247 @eaddy44 @polarbearsfb @AndreCastine54 pic.twitter.com/lyV20TJFGq
