Iowa Football Official Visit Impressed Logan Howland
NJ OL Feeling Good About Hawkeyes as Commitment Nears
In searching for a college football home, recruits are looking for a place where they connect with guys already on the roster. It’s the best sign that they fit in with their future family.
New Jersey offensive lineman Logan Howland felt connected this weekend on his official visit with Iowa Football.
“Hanging with the players was definitely the best part of the visit,” he told HF. “They’re great guys and really fun to be around.”
Howland (6-7, 280) shared his Iowa official visit with his Princeton (NJ) Hun School classmate, Marco Lainez, a four-star quarterback verbally committed to the Hawkeyes.
“Mac’s one of my best friends, and we spent a lot of time together on the visit. He’s someone I would want to play with at any level, and he’ll be a factor in my decision, but not a huge factor,” Howland said.
Miami (FL), Michigan and Oklahoma also played host to Howland on official visits this month. He named that trio of schools along with Iowa as his finalists at the end of May.
“I think I’m really close to committing, and I’ll be sitting down with my parents soon to talk about it,” Howland said after wrapping up his Hawkeye official on Sunday.
Iowa got the last chance to impress Howland, a converted tight end. It did well.
“The visit gave me a better understanding of the culture that Iowa has and what they’ve been able to do with offensive linemen,” he said.
Howland spent the most time on the Hawkeye official with offensive line coach George Barnett and head coach Kirk Ferentz. The program has let him know he’s a priority recruit.
“I talk to coach Barnett almost everyday. We’ve built a great relationship over these past couple months,” Howland said.
Rivals ranks Howland as a three-star recruit, the No. 41 offensive tackle nationally and the 6th-best player in New Jersey for the 2023 Class.
