Iowa Latest Visit for Savion Hart
'24 MN RB Attends Hawkeye Tailgater
Savion Hart has made the rounds this summer. The Class of 2024 St. Paul (MN) St. Thomas Academy running back attended camps at Iowa State, Nebraska and Wisconsin in June.
The latest road trip had him in Iowa City on Sunday. Hart took part in the Hawkeyes’ annual recruiting tailgater.
“I decided to go to Iowa for the tailgater because coach (Ladell) Betts said I should come and check it out, and Iowa is great program,” Hart told HF.
Betts coaches Iowa running backs and recruits Minnesota for the program.
“I got to talk to coach Betts about himself and myself. We got to know each other more. We also had the opportunity to talk about what type of offense they run and what formations they usually run depending on the game,” Hart said.
The Hawkeyes provided him with a behind-the-scenes look at the program.
“I got to go and see the weight room and the meal plans they put their players on. I see how organized and caring they are for their players. I also got to take pictures in the uniforms, which was great. I loved the experience and the team colors,” he said.
Hart might be back in the fall for a game at Kinnick Stadium.
“It would be great to visit Iowa again, whenever. I loved the atmosphere and the family-like theme. I also liked how organized they are and how much they care about not only their players but their students. So, yeah, I would definitely come back any day and visit again. It was a great experience overall,” he said.
Hart (5-11, 190) rushed for 1,056 yards and 18 touchdowns as a sophomore last fall. He showed big-play ability.
