Jett Thomalla Reacts to Hawkeye Offer
Omaha QB Spends Thursday at Iowa

IOWA CITY, Iowa – There are ordinary college campus visits. Then, there’s what happened with Jett Thomalla Thursday at Iowa.
While many of these spring stops last several hours, at most, the 2026 Nebraska quarterback was on campus when the Hawkeyes kicked off practice at 6 a.m. He finished up at 4 p.m.
Thomalla left town impressed. He also returned home with a scholarship offer.
“One thing that really stood out to me is how professional the staff and the team culture (are),” Thomalla told HF.
The program provided the full visit experience. Still, there was more he wanted to know.
“I felt like I learned a lot about Iowa on Thursday. I just want to learn more about how I would fit into their offense,” he said.
The Hawkeyes offered opportunities to make that happen.
“They asked me to come back for another spring practice and to set up an official visit,” he said.
Iowa State will play host to Thomalla this weekend. He’s scheduled to officially visit the Cyclones on June 6.
“I will talk to my parents about what I am gonna be doing next,” Thomalla said of his other plans beyond this weekend.
Academics will weigh heavily into the Omaha Millard South signal caller’s final decision. He has some ideas for life following his playing days.
“As of now, I’m thinking about studying Business and Communications in college. I have met a lot of really good coaches on my visits. I think coaching might be my future, too,” he said.
Arizona, Duke, Missouri, Virginia Tech, Washington State and others also have reportedly offered Thomalla scholarships. All of those opportunities have arrived since Iowa State was the first program to extend one on Jan. 28.
Thomalla shined as a junior in leading the Patriots to the Nebraska Class A state championship last fall. He completed 69.6 percent of his passes for 3,664 yards and 47 touchdowns against just three interceptions.
Prep Redzone Nebraska ranks Thomalla as the No. 5 overall prospect in the state and its top quarterback in the 2026 Class. The site’s lead scout, Oscar Galindo, wrote this report after watching him in person last September:
The biggest thing that stands out about Jett is his ability to read and pick apart defenses. He’s very efficient when working through his progressions and knows how to manipulate defenders to create opportunities for his receivers. He displayed excellent touch and ball placement on several of his passes. Thomalla also does a good job leading his receivers open with his placement. Jett does a great job keeping his feet moving in the pocket and can sidestep defenders when he senses pressure coming. He can extend plays with his legs.
The 247 Sports Composite and On3 Industry rankings have Thomalla as a four-star prospect. The former sees him as the No. 20 quarterback nationally in 2026, while the latter places him two spots higher.
Iowa has secured a verbal commitment from ’26 California quarterback Cash Herrera. The Hawkeyes have let it be known they’d liked to sign a second player at the position this cycle having played host to Thomalla Thursday, a week after Pennsylvania’s Peyton Falzone officially visited.
Falzone is scheduled to officially visit Utah on April 17. Also a four-star ranked in the same range nationally as Thomalla, in addition to the Hawkeyes and Utes, he reports scholarship offers from Penn State, Rutgers, Syracuse, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Wisconsin and others.
