Boston College long snapper Bryant Worrell commits to Iowa football

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Iowa football team has landed a long snapper from the transfer portal as Bryant Worrell announced Sunday on Instagram that he has committed to the Hawkeyes.
Worrell, a native of Dublin, Virginia, was the long snapper for Boston College last season after having previously attended Old Dominion and Division II Emory & Henry. He appeared in 14 games over two seasons for Emory & Henry.
Worrell is being brought in to help fill the void left by four-year starting long snapper Luke Elkin, who exhausted his eligibility last season. Elkin appeared in 53 games over the last four seasons. He was named a First-team AFCA All-American last season and is now pursuing a professional career.
Iowa also returns Ike Speltz at long snapper, but he is only redshirt freshman and hasn’t seen any game action.
Special teams have been a long-standing strength under Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz, but even more so after LeVar Woods became the specials teams coordinator in 2017.
Iowa should be solid again on special teams in 2025, powered by arguably the best kicker, punter and return specialist trio in college football in kicker Drew Stevens, punter Rhys Dakin and return specialist Kaden Wetjen.
The Hawkeyes also recently added Ferris State offensive lineman Bryce George from the transfer portal.
Worrell and George both have one season of eligibility.
