Hawkeyes Offer Maximus Curry
'28 Tennessee WR Looking at Iowa Spring Visit
Maximus Curry is living up to his unique first name. Colleges see it. They’re steadily offering scholarships despite the Tennessee receiver only being midway through his prep career.
During the last week, Curry reported new opportunities from Iowa, BYU, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Colorado State and Liberty. They joined Nebraska, Ole Miss, Kentucky, home-state Tennessee and Vanderbilt, and plenty of other schools in doing so.
The Hawkeyes are notoriously selective when handing out scholarship offers. That they jumped in this early with Curry is telling.
“They called my head coach (Bobby Bentley) and said they liked my film and heard I am a good kid,” he said.
Curry (5-10, 170) attends Franklin (TN) Battle Ground Academy, the alma mater of former Iowa quarterback C.J. Beathard. Curry is hearing good things about the program.
“I like that they aim to build relationships with the athletes they are recruiting,” he said. “The Hawkeyes are pretty high on my list because they are doing a good job at recruiting me.”
Curry still has plenty more to find out about the long-time Big Ten member, however.
“I would like to learn the scheme, and I plan to visit sometime this spring,” he said.
During that stop, Curry will inquire about the university’s academic offerings. They will play a key role in his decision-making process.
“Right now, it is to be determined what I would like to study in college, but I am interested in Business,” he said.
Curry has time on his side and enough interest to be deliberate about finding a college home. He’s happy with his position.
“So far, the recruiting process is looking pretty good for me. It will come down to who can develop me the best and build the best relationships,” he said.
Curry tore up defenses as a 10th-grader in 2025. He hauled in 57 receptions for 1,404 yards (24.6 YPR) and 20 touchdowns in 14 games. It followed a freshman campaign with 27 catches for 278 yards and three scores.
