IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Iowa football team has added another player from instate to its 2027 recruiting class as West Lyon defensive lineman Jerrence Knoblock announced his commitment on Tuesday.
The 6-foot-6, 220-pound Knoblock picked Iowa over reported scholarship offers from Iowa State, North Dakota State, South Dakota State and South Dakota.
As a junior, he finished the season with 24 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, and 6.5 sacks in leading West Lyon to a state championship.
“First off, I want to give thanks to my lord and savior Jesus Christ for blessing me with the ability, gifts, and talents to play the sport I love,” Knoblock said in a statement “I want to thank my parents, siblings, family, and friends who have supported me all along the way and in this decision making process. I want to thank my teammates and coaches for pushing me in everything I do. I want to also give a special thanks to the Iowa football staff for believing in me and blessing me with such an amazing opportunity! With that being said, let’s work! Go Hawks! Committed!!”
Knoblock is the seventh player to commit to Iowa’s 2027 recruiting class, and the fifth from instate; joining linebackers Gavin Stecker (Bettendorf) and Braylon Bingham (Pleasantville), offensive linemen Nate Brenneman (Rock Valley), and tight end Jaxx DeJean (Odebolt), who is the younger brother of former Hawkeye defensive back Cooper DeJean, who now plays for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Iowa also has commitments in the 2027 class from defensive lineman Tommy Riordan and defensive back Jake Thies, both of whom are from the Chicago suburbs.
