IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Iowa football team has added a fourth player to its 2027 recruiting class, and the first from out of state.
Defensive back Jake Thies, who attends Fenwick High School in Oak Park, Illinois, announced his commitment to Iowa Saturday on social media.
The three-star prospect picked Iowa over reported scholarship offers from Illinois and Northwestern.
Thies, who is listed at 6-foot and 185 pounds, had a breakout junior season that culminated with him recording 18 tackles in the state title game, an interception, 161 all-purpose and two touchdowns.
Thies joins Bettendorf linebacker Gavin Stecker, Odebolt tight end/receiver Jaxx DeJean and Pleasantville linebacker Braylon Bingham as players committed to Iowa’s 2027 recruiting class.
DeJean is the younger brother of former Iowa defensive back Cooper DeJean, who now plays for the Philadelphia Eagles.
