IOWA CITY, Iowa – Former North Carolina guard Kyan Evans, according to his Instagram account, arrived in Iowa City on Wednesday to check out the Iowa men’s basketball program.
He also visited Minnesota on Tuesday.
The 6-foot-2 Evans, who is from Kansas City, Missouri, averaged 4.0 points, 1.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists while appearing in 33 games for the Tar Heels this past season.
He shot 32.8 percent from the field and 30.5 percent from 3-point range.
Evans played at Colorado State as a freshman and sophomore under Nico Medved, who just finished his first season as the Minnesota head coach.
Evans averaged 10.6 points per game as a sophomore at Colorado State in 2024-25.
Evans also attended the same high school as Iowa senior-to-be forward Cam Manyawu, who was among six former Drake players that followed Ben McCollum to Iowa after McCollum was hired as the Iowa head coach in late March 2025.
McCollum would go on to lead Iowa to NCAA Elite Eight for the first time since 1987.
He now has to replace All-Big Ten point guard Bennett Stirtz, who exhausted his eligibility this past season.
Iowa is also reportedly recruiting former Washington State guard Ace Glass, while former Saint Mary’s 7-3 center Andrew McKeever reportedly visited Iowa this past Sunday and Monday.
