IOWA CITY, Iowa – Former Iowa forward Alvaro Folgueiras has committed to Louisville, his agency told the @TheFieldOf68.
The 6-foot-10 Folgueiras played a key role in Iowa’s march to the NCAA Elite Eight for the first time since 1987 under first-year head coach Ben McCollum.
Folgueiras made a 3-point basket in the closing seconds that lifted Iowa to a 73-72 victory over No. 1 seed Florida in the second round on March 22 in Tampa, Florida.
Folgueiras, who is from Spain, played in all 37 games this past season and was Iowa’s third leading scorer with an 8.4 per-game average.
He now joins a Louisville team that has been very active in the transfer portal with five new additions, including former Oregon point guard Jackson Shelstad.
Folgueiras played his freshman and sophomore seasons for Robert Morris before transferring to Iowa.
