Jeremiah McCall Dishes on Iowa Offer
'28 MI DL visting Hawkeyes
Jeremiah McCall is looking to find a college that’s a home away from home. He sees the potential for that being the University of Iowa.
The foundation of that pursuit is the Hawkeye football program. The Harper Woods (MI) High defensive lineman is a rising prospect in the 2028 Class.
Iowa became the first Power 4 school to offer McCall a scholarship. It did so on May 12. Washington, Connecticut and several MAC programs have since offered.
While it’s still early in the recruiting process, the Hawkeyes are off to a good start with McCall.
“A reason I would consider Iowa is their tight culture,” he said. “When I was talking to (defensive line) coach (Kelvin) Bell, he told me their staff and players were like family. That’s important to have a team that doesn’t see just football but also pushing you to become a better man.”
The 6-foot-3, 245-pound McCall wants a closer look at the operation.
“I will be at Iowa June 15th,” he said.
McCall earned all-region honors as a sophomore last fall. He recorded 39 tackles, 14.0 stops for loss, 6.0 sacks and 13 pressures.
Prep Redzone ranks McCall as the seventh-best defensive lineman in Michigan’s 2028 Class. The scouting service sees him as the state’s No. 45 player overall.
Michigan played host to McCall during spring football. Other Power 4 programs have been poking around. He’s generated an image of the ideal location for him.
“What’s most important when looking for a school is academics and an environment that will push me to become the best version of myself,” he said.
McCall is looking forward to finding out what Iowa offers academically.
“In college, I would like to study business,” he said.
