IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa second-year kicker Caden Buhr has been named Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week following his perfect performance in the Hawkeyes’ 16-13 Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series victory over in-state rival Iowa State. The announcement was made Monday by the Big Ten Conference office.

With the game tied at 13, Buhr split the uprights on a game-winning 42-yard field goal with 15 seconds remaining.  It was his first career game-winning field goal.

Buhr (5-foot-10, 203 pounds) scored 10 of Iowa’s 16 points. The Bettendorf, Iowa, native drilled a 45-yard field goal in the second quarter to tie a career long, followed by a game-tying 32-yarder and the game-winning 42-yarder in the fourth quarter. He also added a PAT in the second quarter.

Since missing his first career attempt in Week 1, Buhr has made five consecutive field goals, including three from 40-49 yards. He ranks sixth nationally, averaging 2.5 field goals per game.

The win was Iowa’s eighth straight at night at Kinnick Stadium, dating back to 2022.

Iowa (2-0) hosts UNI (1-1) in its nonconference finale on Saturday. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m. (CT) on Duke Slater Field at Kinnick Stadium.
