Wednesday’s podcast pays tribute to a special dog named Buddy
IOWA CITY, Iowa – This podcast comes drenched in tears.
I lost a special friend on Tuesday with the passing of my 16-year dog named Buddy. He entered my life in June 2002 and enriched it for 14 years. I took ownership of Buddy from my sister right before the Iowa football team finished 11-2 in 2002 and he lasted through last season’s return to the Rose Bowl.
We spend the first 30 minutes of the podcast reminiscing about Buddy and telling stories about how dogs have impacted our lives for the better.
We get back on track in the final 30 minutes with discussion about Iowa football recruiting in the wake of Chevin Calloway’s commitment to Iowa on Monday. Calloway is a four-star defensive back from Dallas, Texas who picked the Hawkeyes over more than 30 scholarship offers from schools that include Alabama, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Texas among others.
But mostly, this podcast is a tribute to a special dog. So if you’re into dogs and into the Hawkeyes, you might enjoy it despite the sadness.
