IOWA CITY, Iowa – Tyler Gant went to Iowa City for football camp on June 13.
The 2023 defensive lineman left with a scholarship offer from the Hawkeyes.
“It was a great experience visiting Iowa,” Gant said. “And some of the coaches had shown interest in me before but wanted to see me play in person. I was super exited to get up there and show them what I can do.”
The 6-foot-3, 272-pound Gant said the energy level at the camp was electric from the Iowa coaches to the players.
“When it came time for competition everyone was live,” Gant said.
Gant, a native of St. Louis, Mo., said the longevity of head coach Kirk Ferentz and his staff stands out the most to him.
“(What stands out is) their desire for greatness ever year,” Gant said. “The head coach and staff have been there for a long time while also sustaining success. They want to win and know how to do it.”
Gant currently holds offers from Arkansas State, Eastern Michigan, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Kentucky and Wisconsin, according to Rivals.com.
Iowa does not currently have any players committed to its 2023 recruiting class.
