2023 defensive tackle Maddux Borcherding-Johnson commits to Iowa

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Iowa football team received its first commitment in the 2023 recruiting class on Thursday.
Norwalk, Iowa defensive tackle Maddux Borcherding-Johnson announced his commitment to the Hawkeyes via Twitter.
The 6-foot-3, 270-pound Borcherding-Johnson received an offer from Iowa during an unofficial visit in June.
Borcherding-Johnson also had a scholarship offer from Iowa State but tweeted a photo of himself dressed in Hawkeye garb as a toddler as part of his commitment announcement.
An elite two-sport athlete, Borcherding-Johnson has also proven himself to be one of the best heavyweight wrestlers in the state.
Borcherding-Johnson currently owns a 57-6 career record in high school with 37 pins, per Trackwrestling.com, with multiple tournament wins including the Iowa/USA State Freestyle Championships in May of this year.
