Nate Guerengomba Planning to Visit Iowa Basketball
'24 DC Guard Recently Picked Up Hawkeye Offer
IOWA CITY, Iowa – The spring and summer evaluation periods have worked out well for Nate Guerengomba. The 2024 Washington DC guard has shown off his skills and reaped the rewards.
Seton Hall, Maryland, Rutgers, Missouri and Iowa have reportedly offered him scholarships since April. The Hawkeyes came forward with their opportunity June 22.
“I have heard from pretty much the head coach (Fran McCaffery) and the assistant coach since they came to watch me play and that led to my offer,” Guerengomba told HF. “I think the coaches are nice and they are pretty straight forward in how they see me as a player and also as a man.”
The Hawkeye staff will work with he and his family in setting up a trip to see campus.
“I will want to visit Iowa in the future. As to when, I don’t know yet. I would like to find out how the student life in Iowa is and what there is to do around the school,” he said.
Guerengomba (6-4, 220) plays at the South Kent (CT) School and with Team Takeover, the same AAU program that featured Iowa’s all-time leading score, Luka Garza.
“What I liked about Iowa is the tradition of good basketball players that go to the school. I also liked how the coaches talked about how good of a school the University of Iowa is,” Guerengomba said.
Academics will be a big part of his decision.
“I would like to study Computer Engineering or Cyber Security,” he said.
