Jason Dowell Speaks About Hawkeye Offer
East St. Louis Sophomore DL Checks Out Iowa
Jason Dowell visited Iowa Football Saturday for its Homecoming game against Northwestern. He picked up a Hawkeye scholarship offer and could hardly believe it.
“It was exciting because I used to always see them play on TV. Finally seeing them in person and getting an offer from them as well was surreal,” Dowell told HF.
The East St. Louis (IL) Cahokia High defensive lineman added his Iowa offer to one he previously received from Illinois. He enjoyed his first in-person look at Iowa.
“I liked pretty much everything about the visit – the coaches, the players, the atmosphere, the facilities. Everything was beautiful,” he said.
So far this season, Dowell (6-3, 290) has registered 54 tackles (31.0 solo, 4.0 for loss). The sophomore has forced two fumbles.
Iowa coaches see a disrupter in the Class of 2025 product.
“They liked my energy, my versatility, size and build,” he said.
Dowell enjoyed watching the Hawkeye defense work on Saturday and could see himself lining up in the black and gold someday.
“I feel like I would be able to help the D-Line out a lot because a lot of disruption in the middle makes it hard for teams to run the ball,” he said.
