Running back Gavin Williams latest Hawkeye to enter transfer portal
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Sophomore running back Gavin Williams is the latest Iowa football player to enter the transfer portal.
Williams announced his decision to enter the portal Friday afternoon on Twitter.
He is fifth Iowa player to enter portal this week, with all five playing on offense.
The others are junior quarterback Alex Padilla, sophomore receivers Keagan Johnson and Arland Bruce IV and junior offensive lineman Josh Volk.
Gavin Williams was listed as the starting running heading into the 2022 season, but he was slowed by injuries during the early stages of the season and then fell behind true freshman Kaleb Johnson and sophomore Leshon Williams in the running back rotation.
A graduate of West Des Moines Dowling Catholic, Gavin Williams has appeared in 11 games this season and has 138 rushing yards and 44 receiving yards.
Iowa has also added one player on offense from the portal as Michigan quarterback Cade McNamara announced his commitment to Iowa Thursday on Twitter.
