Iowa sophomore forward Seydou Traore enters transfer portal
Ninth Iowa player to enter portal since Fran McCaffery was fired

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Add sophomore forward Seydou Traore to the growing list of Iowa basketball players that have entered the transfer portal since Fran McCaffery was fired as the Iowa head coach.
Traore, who is from New York City, is the ninth Iowa player to enter the portal since the end of the season.
He played in 27 games this season and averaged 5.9 points and 3.0 rebounds per game.
Traore transferred to Iowa from Manhattan College, where he averaged 11.8 points and 8.2 rebounds as a freshman.
Of the nine Iowa players that have entered the portal, one of them – freshman forward Cooper Koch – has decided to stay at Iowa and play for new head coach Ben McCollum, while three have committed to new schools.
Sophomore forward Owen Freeman has committed to Creighton, while senior center Riley Mulvey and sophomore point guard Brock Harding have committed to Siena and TCU, respectively.
McCollum was hired after leading Drake to a 31-4 record in his only season as head coach this past season.
Three of his Drake players, including star point guard Bennett Stirtz, have since committed to Iowa.
