Hawkeyes Host Devin Hill Jr.
KC FR ATH Visits Iowa for Game
Devin Hill Jr. has dreamed about playing college football for some time. His experience while recently visiting Iowa only strengthened that desire.
The Class of 2029 Athlete from Raymore-Peculiar (MO) High watched the Hawkeyes take down Michigan State in dramatic fashion last month. He received an intimate look at the celebration.
“I loved when they let us in the locker after the huge win they got,” Hill Jr. said.
Prep Redzone ranks Hill Jr. (6-1, 165) as the No. 3 overall prospect in Missouri’s 2029 Class. Said lead scout Arlen Harris, a former NFL running back:
Attacks the ball at its highest point any time it’s in the air. Truly does play with the mentality that every ball in the air is his. As a Cornerback, he uses his length and vertical to go up for errant passes, like they were meant for him. One of the best playmakers and creators with the ball in his hands. Catching is one thing, but the speed and vision he displays when adding up the YAC yards is what separates him.
Hill Jr.’s freshman season convinced the Hawkeyes to invite him to Kinnick Stadium.
“They told me I was there because they loved my film,” he said.
Hill Jr. felt a good vibe during the stop.
“I love the program. Great coaches. They make it feel like I’ve been going there,” he said.
Receiver could be a possibility for Hill Jr. in college. He also flashes potential in the secondary, as Harris mentioned.
“I catch the ball very well as a football player, and I felt like I improved at cornerback, having great eyes on defense,” he said.
Iowa has plenty of company in having interest in Hill Jr. Nebraska, Illinois and Kansas also played host to him on visits this fall.
It feels like Hill Jr.’s recruitment is just taking off with strong potential for it to spark competition between Power 4 programs in the region and beyond. The Hawkeyes are getting in on the ground floor.
