IOWA CITY, Iowa – A three-star offensive lineman from Ohio is the latest player to commit to the Iowa football team’s 2027 recruiting class
Reilly Newman, a 6-foot-6, 265-pound native of West Chester, Ohio, announced his commitment to Iowa Monday on social media.
He is the fifth player to commit to Iowa’s 2027 recruiting class and the second since Saturday, joining Illinois defensive back Jake Thies, who announced his commitment to Iowa this past Saturday.
Newman picked Iowa over a long list of reported scholarship offers from schools that include national champion Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Oregon, Louisville, Minnesota, Northwestern, Cincinnati, Kentucky, Purdue, Stanford, Maryland and Vanderbilt among others.
Iowa’s 2027 class also has commitment from Bettendorf linebacker, Gavin Stecker, Odebolt tight end/wide receiver Jaxx DeJean and Pleasantville linebacker Braylon Bingham.
DeJean is the younger brother of former Iowa defensive back Cooper DeJean, who now plays for the Philadelphia Eagles.
