Iowa Offers Rising CB Edwin Augustin
'28 FL Recruit Planning Hawkeye Stop
It would be naive thinking Iowa Football impresses prospects equally on both sides of the ball. The Hawkeye reputation of defensive success precedes it, while the offense is trying to flip a negative narrative.
Iowa’s history of holding opponents down reaches all corners of the country. That includes Florida, a state that has provided the Hawkeyes with a long line of impactful performers.
They’re dipping into the Sunshine State for roster reinforcements in the 2028 Class. Unique Davie (FL) Western High School cornerback Edwin Augustin announced an offer from the Big Ten school on May 21.
“Iowa has a great defensive background and a great head coach,” he said.
Those factors and others have the Hawkeyes in good position for the 6-foot-4, 180-pound Augustin.
“I plan on visiting Iowa, but I don’t have specific date yet. When I do get there, I’m hoping to see the team move with high energy and players getting coached well, but most importantly everybody having fun with doing something they love,” he said.
Augustin has a checklist of items he desires in the college of his choice.
“The most important things to me when looking for a school is building a great relationship with all of the coaches, playing time, having a great history with degrees, and most importantly, well centered with the Lord,” he said.
Academics will be a key consideration when it comes to Augustin finding a future home.
“I plan on studying Computer Science when I get to college,” he said.
Prep Redzone ranks Augustin as the No. 12 Class of 2028 defensive back in Florida. The scouting service sees him as the No. 68 player overall in the state for that cycle.
Augustin recorded 28.0 tackles, 21 of which were solo stops, as a sophomore last fall. He intercepted a pair of passes and defended seven others in nine games played.
Florida State, Texas A&M, Texas, Oklahoma, Mississippi State, Purdue, Cal, Georgia Tech and others also have reportedly offered Augustin scholarships.
