Jordon Green Recaps Recent Iowa Visit
Hawkeyes Host In-State Receiver
Jordon Green grew up rooting for the Cyclones. His parents attended Iowa State.
That allegiance is weakening these days, however. The Class of 2027 receiver from Waukee Northwest High is being recruited by other programs, including rival Iowa.
Green visited the Hawkeyes earlier this month. He watched them come-from-behind to defeat Penn State in front of a boisterous Kinnick Stadium crowd.
“The aspect I enjoyed the most was probably the speech from Micah Hyde because it was really cool to see him come back,” Green said of hearing the former Iowa and NFL defensive back share his experiences before the game.
Green has enjoyed an excellent junior season this fall. The 6-foot, 170-pounder has hauled in 51 balls for 929 yards and 12 touchdowns. He’s averaged 25.4 yards on seven kick returns, and 22.5 on four punt returns, one of which he returned for a score.
“I’d say I have pretty good quickness and hands. Obviously, there’s a lot more that I could improve on, such as releases or creating separation,” he said.
The Hawkeyes see something they like having played host to him for multiple visits.
“They just basically said they liked what I had done during the season and were impressed with my success. The things they like are my speed and catching,” he said.
Northern Iowa and South Dakota State are showing interest in Green, too. So are the Cyclones, who may have lost their advantage.
“I grew up an Iowa State fan because my parents went there, but as time has gone on, and the more I’ve visited Iowa, I’ve really liked the program and culture there,” he said.
